2026 VFMA Annual Conference
April 23-24 | The Westin in Richmond, Virginia
The Virginia Floodplain Management Association (VFMA) is committed to hosting an annual conference featuring expert-led presentations focused on the latest policies, technologies, and best practices in floodplain management. This conference attracts attendees from across the state of Virginia, including floodplain managers, emergency management professionals, engineers, and planners from every sector of the professional community. The conference is open to VFMA members, non-members, and students. The 2026 Annual Conference will be on April 23-24 and will be held at the Westin in Richmond, Virginia.
Call for abstracts opens October 17, 2025. VFMA invites professionals to submit presentation proposals on topics related to the National Flood Insurance Program, local floodplain management, Community Rating System, research and practical applications in floodplain management (to include FEMA, state, local, and other programs), hydrology, hydraulics, dam safety, resiliency, stream restoration, and related water resources subjects. Call for abstracts closes on November 24, 2025.

Floodplain management award nominations opens October 17, 2025. Each year, VFMA recognizes individuals and organizations who have made an outstanding contribution to floodplain management. Help us celebrate excellence by nominating a colleague, community leader, or project for one of our annual awards. Call for award nominations closes on February 28, 2026.
