Ward's Flood Model

In 2012, VFMA purchased a Ward’s Flood Model to demonstrate the impacts of flooding and provide floodplain management education to students in classrooms, community members, and other professionals across Virginia.  

If you are interested in using the Ward’s Flood Model, please contact us. VFMA has several members who are floodplain management experts and have volunteered to schedule and conduct demonstrations for interested educators and other community leaders upon request.

The video below demonstrates how the model is used to show how wetlands, parking lots, stormwater management, and levees can impact a floodplain through hands-on, tabletop experiments.
