VFMA’s membership year matches the calendar year (January 1st to December 31st), but you can join at any time! Your membership helps support our organization’s work in the Commonwealth, where we serve as the state chapter of the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM). Through this, VFMA offers educational workshops and training on floodplain management, the National Flood Insurance Program, and how Virginia communities can increase their flood protection and resilience. Members also get access to VFMA’s quarterly newsletter!
VFMA offers the Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) exam for floodplain managers seeking a professional certification and career path, provides opportunities for networking with other floodplain professionals from Virginia and beyond during our annual conference and technical workshops across the state, and also coordinates closely with the state floodplain management team at the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.
