VFMA Events

The Virginia Floodplain Management Association (VFMA) hosts an annual conference, which provides an opportunity to attend presentations and network with other professionals.. Click here for more information on the Annual Conference.

VFMA also hosts three Fall Workshops in September and October in different regions of Virginia. These workshops are a one-day event focusing on regional flood-related issues. Click here for more information on the Fall Workshops.

Resiliency Technical Seminar | TBD | Virginia Beach

VFMA, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) Norfolk Chapter are holding a joint technical seminar and panel discussion.

NFIP 101 Training

FEMA and ASFPM have created a new online training, NFIP 101: Introduction to Floodplain Management. This training is free and available on demand. It is comparable to the in-person E/L-273 Course offered by the Emergency Management Institute. This online course can be used to earn 12 CECs for Certified Floodplain Managers.

Ward’s Flood Model

VFMA owns a Ward’s Flood Model that can be used by members to demonstrate the effects of floodplain. The Flood Model has been used across the state at various outreach and school events to educate adults and children on floodplain management. Learn more here.
