The Virginia General Assembly created a statewide Community Flood Preparedness Fund that could generate as much as $40 million a year for flood resilience across the Commonwealth. The legislation references floodplain managers specifically. Read the full Code of Virginia section here: https://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?201+ful+CHAP1254+pdf
The Northam Administration is soliciting public comments on Draft Guidelines for the administration of the Fund. These guidelines will inform the annual grant manual, scoring criteria, and other aspects of administration of the Fund.
Your input is essential, as you may be the locality-certified floodplain manager. Don’t miss this opportunity to provide feedback for this important, statewide fund!
The public comment period for the Draft Guidelines is open through January 31, 2021. Find more information, including the notice for public comment on the Virginia Town Hall site here.
