VA Dam Safety Awareness Day | May 31

The Virginia Floodplain Management Association supports Virginia Dam Safety Awareness Day! 

Dam Safety Awareness Day is a nationwide effort on May 31 to encourage individual and community responsibility for dam safety. Please join the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation for information sharing, tours of Beaver Lake and Swift Creek dams, and a floodplain model demonstration.

Parking fees waived for event attendees. 

Meet at Beaver Lake Dam. Wear comfortable clothing and walking or hiking shoes. Use sun and insect protection. This event is rain or shine. In case of rain, please meet at shelter #3.
