Are you interested in getting more involved in the Virginia Floodplain Management Association? VFMA is seeking nominations for five positions on the Board of Directors. Directors serve a two-year term, which will begin in March 2019.
Elections will take place electronically following the nomination period, and new board members will begin their term at the Annual Meeting held at the Virginia Water Conference in Richmond.
Important Dates:
- February 8: Nominations due by COB
- February 11 – March 1: Electronic voting
- March 3-5: Virginia Water Conference (terms begin)
Available Board of Director positions:
PRESIDENT
The President leads the organization by planning and running meetings, interfacing with other organizations and the press as needed, and ensuring that necessary tasks get completed.
The President should have strong organizational and communication skills, and should be knowledgeable of VFMA activities and functions.
SECRETARY
The Secretary manages calendar invites, drafts meeting minutes, helps facilitate meetings, and other tasks as requested by the Board.
The Secretary should be detail-oriented, have good communication skills, and be good at using technology tools.
REPRESENTATIVE (3 POSITIONS)
Representatives participate in monthly and annual VFMA meetings, vote on VFMA actions, serve on committees, and take on additional tasks as requested by the Board or VFMA President.
Representatives should be eager to contribute to VFMA and may bring a variety of skills and ideas to the table.
Nominations are due by COB on February 8th!
Each person may only run for ONE position. In order to serve on the Board of Directors, you must be a current VFMA member. If you’re not already a VFMA member, you can become a member by registering here.
