Hurricane Florence – Be Prepared!

VFMA urges all Virginians to prepare for Hurricane Florence and stay safe! Below are some resources to help you be prepared.

Find the latest information on Hurricane Florence from the National Weather Service here, including information on Hurricane Safety.

Do you know your evacuation zone? Governor Northam has ordered the mandatory evacuation of Coastal Virginians in Zone A (blue), the lowest-lying area of Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore & Coastal Virginia. Access the Know Your Zone map here, and enter your address to identify what evacuation zone you’re located in.

If you live in Hampton Roads, easily access information using the Ready Hampton Roads website.  From this site, you can connect with your local emergency management agency and find preparedness information for all of Hampton Roads in one place.

More information on how to prepare for a hurricane can be found in the Virginia Hurricane Preparedness Guide. You should prepare an emergency kit including food, water, medications, pet supplies, and important documents that you will need to take with you if asked to evacuate.

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) has several resources available to help you prepare. If you try the VDEM website and it doesn’t work, keep trying. The website may be overwhelmed with visitors, but they have been working as fast as possible to make sure the website stays up and running.
